The Yongzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone was officially established in November 1990 and upgraded to the national level in June 2021. The urban development boundary area is 21.3 square kilometers, with a planned area of 18.93 square kilometers. There are 235 industrial enterprises above designated size, 116 high-tech enterprises, and 23 R&D institutions and technology centers at the provincial level or above. The development zone has been honored as the "Advanced Industrial Zone in Hunan Business Environment Evaluation" and the "Hunan Advanced Electronic Device Demonstration Base." In 2023, it topped the province in the evaluation and scoring of the industrial parks and zones on optimizing the business environment by the Hunan Government Affairs and Service Administration.
New progress has been made in "Three Hubs" construction, namely, building Hunan into a national hub for important and advanced manufacturing industries, a sci-tech and innovation center with core competitiveness, and a pacesetter for reform and opening-up of China's inland regions. The zone has witnessed strong momentum in the development of manufacturing industry, a significant increase in the competitiveness of science and technology innovation, and rapid growth of the open economy. The "two leading" industries have made new breakthroughs. The advanced equipment manufacturing industry has gathered over 60 enterprises specializing in intelligent equipment manufacturing and new energy equipment manufacturing, including Windey Wind Power, Sunsico Group, Shuailing Technology, Rongchu Intelligent, Sincer Technology, Yongzhou Times, and Shengyong Energy. An industrial cluster spearheaded by industrial leaders such as Windey Wind Power and Sunsico Group has taken shape here. There are more than 80 enterprises above designated size in the electronic information industry with advanced electronic devices as its core, including Zhongtan, Jinlord, and ULUO.
Guided by the dual carbon goals, the Yongzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone is steadily transforming its "zero-carbon zone" vision into reality through concrete actions. The zone has clustered its two dominant industries—advanced equipment manufacturing and advanced electronic components—to foster excellence. The advanced equipment manufacturing sector has gathered 57 intelligent equipment enterprises, with leading companies like Windey Wind Power and Junjie AI driving continuous expansion. The advanced electronic components sector hosts 74 enterprises above designated size, establishing a complete industrial chain spanning materials, components, and end products. It has secured technological leadership in critical areas such as magnetic electronic surface treatment and 5G high-frequency chip-on-board winding, laying a solid foundation for zero-carbon transformation. Regarding green power supply, its rooftop photovoltaic capacity has surpassed 300 megawatts. Combined with energy storage arrangement and abundant carbon sink resources from a 65.53% forest coverage rate, the zone has created a dual-engine drive of "green power + carbon sink."
